According to Alfa Romeo Automobilisimo Storico, chassis number AR1470039 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce RHD, manufactured on the 3rd May 1968 and sold on the 10th June 1968 to Alfa Romeo, London UK.
The 1750 Spider Veloce is the ultimate iteration of the round tail Spider and with just 494 RHD examples produced, this car is the most sought after of them all.
After being off the road and in storage for nearly 20 years, we purchased this Spider three years ago and set about an exhaustive restoration to original specifications. Bodywork required the replacement of all three sill sections with front and rear floor sections to both sides of the car, replacement front wings, door skins and rear quarter panel and boot floor to ensure it is completely corrosion free and as it left the factory in 1968. Finished in the correct shade of AR514 Rosso Farina it now benefits from modern paints and corrosion inhibitors and a lot of waxoyl cavity protection to ensure it is well protected for its next 50 years.
Mechanically the AR00548 engine was fully rebuilt with new pistons, liners, valves, valve springs and guides. A lightened and balanced bottom end and all new auxiliary components. Rebuilt gearbox, propshaft, differential and all new brakes and lines throughout. All suspension components were media blasted and powder coated and refitted with all new rubbers, bushes, springs and shock absorbers throughout.
Electrically a new wiring harness was installed and all new lights, switches and gauges refurbished.
Cosmetically all stainless steel trim was either replaced or re polished as new, interior was completely re trimmed with correct rubber matting and carpeted transmission tunnel. The seats were fitted with new foams and re trimmed to the original patterns. The hood frame was stripped, powder coated and fitted with a new mohair cover.
You will not find a better example than our Spider Veloce, no detail or item has been left to chance and great care has been taken to ensure that a new owner has the opportunity of owning a new 50 year old car.
The car is offered with an accompanying history file containing all invoices relating to the restoration, over 300 photographs of the work carried out along with an Alfa Romeo Classiche Certificate of originality provided by Alfa Romeo Milano.
Whilst not offered at an inexpensive price, you could not find a good project car and carry out this level of restoration for the asking price. In addition to this the amount of time that needs to be invested to deliver a project of this detail to fruition, should not be ignored.
