According to Alfa Romeo Automobilisimo Storico, chassis number AR1456177 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce RHD (105.45), manufactured on the 16th January 1971 and sold on the 20th January 1971 to Alfa Romeo UK, London.
This 1750 GT Veloce is therefore an original UK RHD example. It has had just three owners from new and has only covered 65,900 documented miles and comes complete with all instruction manuals, service books, invoices, owner's notes and all previous MOTs to support
Southwood first purchased this wonderful GTV in 2014 from the estate of the second owner who had owned the car for over 30 years. The first owner was his solicitor who, when he first saw the car, told him if he were ever to sell he would like to purchase it, which is exactly what he did. Now, we search nationally and internationally for the best Alfa Romeos, so imagine our surprise when we found this car in a barn less than 2 miles from our premises !
This car was a true barn find having been stored indoors and unused for 10 years. Once purchased we commissioned a full nut and bolt restoration of the car which was in a generally sound state. The body was fully stripped, which revealed some previous corrosion repairs over the years, so we made the choice to replace the three section sills and front floor pans both sides with new panels, all of the work was photographically documented. The engine was lightened and balanced and fully rebuilt along with the gearbox, differential and all suspension components cleaned and powder coated. The braking system was replaced in its entirety along with all new fuel lines, fuel tank and the Weber carburettors rebuilt. The suspension was fitted with Eibach springs and Koni shock absorbers all round.
The bare metal body was repainted in its original colour of Alfa Rosso 501. The interior was completely original and in very good condition, so the seats were removed and carefully cleaned. The front seat faces had some splitting and damage along the stitched seams, so we carefully removed the damaged vinyl faces and replaced it with leather stitched and finished in the original pattern, retaining the original basket weave vinyl on the sides and rear. The rear seats were simply refitted following cleaning. The dashboard was undamaged and in great condition as were all the gauges, headlining and door trims, so these were also carefully cleaned and retained. New bespoke carpets were made and fitted by our coach trimmer.
Once completed in late 2015 we supplied the car to the third owner who was again local to us being within 5 miles of our premises. During his ownership it has always been garage kept, never used in the rain and has covered less than 1,500 miles. We were lucky enough to be able to purchase it from him recently following a change in direction of his small collection.
So here is an opportunity to own a 65,000 documented mile, fully restored, 3 owner, UK original, right hand drive 1750 GTV, with a documented service history from new, all books, pamphlets and sales brochures from new.
