Brooklands Museum under water
Monday 6th January 2014
Brooklands Museum has been battling the recent severe weather over the Christmas And New Year period. The historic motoring and aviation venue is based in Weybridge which was one of the worst affected areas of rain and floods. On Christmas Day the River Wey burst it's banks leaving up to 18 inches of water around the historic clubhouse, with staff and volunteers working through the day to prevent further damage.
Cars were moved to alternative buildings on higher ground and some placed on axle stands to keep them out of standing water. All involved worked hard to ensure that the New Year's Day traditional classic car meet could go ahead. Their efforts meant that the event could go ahead and they were rewarded a new attendance record.
Despite New Year's Day starting wet and wild the area stayed flood-free with many classic and clubs attending.
